Here is an example of an expert in my field who I admire.
Zoltán Dörnyei is a professor of Psycholinguistics at the University of Nottingham. He is originally from Budapest, Hungary. He has done a lot of interesting research and work on second language acquisition and motivation of the language learner. He has been quite prolific in publishing over the past few decades. His most famous books are: Motivational Strategies in the Language Classroom, Teaching and Researching: Motivation, and Research Methods in Applied Linguistics.
I find the topic of motivation in language learning interesting because it combines a bit of my undergraduate studies of Psychology and my career in English language teaching. I found out about Dörnyei when I was studying a course on second language acquisition. As part of the course I wrote a literature review on the use and influence of motivational strategies in the language learning classroom, which later became a presentation that I gave at a conference. I think what I like best about Dörnyei is the way he writes; in that even when he is describing a complicated concept he explains it in a simple way so that most teachers can understand.
motivation is essential, and it's great that a teacher can simplify a complicated concept into something simple.
